CAREST Participates in the 20th Annual Conference on Sickle Cell Disease and Thalassaemia
The 20th Annual Conference on Sickle Cell Disease and Thalassaemia, organized by the Academy of Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia (ASCAT) in collaboration with the European Hematology Association (EHA) and the British Society for Haematology (BSH), was held in London from 1 to 4 October 2025.
The theme of this 20th edition, “Hemoglobinopathies in Brief: Global Progress, Local Inequalities,” aimed to highlight the stark contrast between recent scientific advances and actual access to healthcare. Indeed, many patients, particularly in underserved regions, still struggle to benefit from these innovations.
Invited to participate, CAREST was represented by Dr. Yann Lamarre (pictured on the right). His presentation, entitled “A Caribbean Initiative to Promote Equity in Sickle Cell Disease Research and Care,” was highly appreciated.
The network was warmly congratulated for the quality, continuity, and impact of its initiatives across the Caribbean region. Many participants described CAREST’s regional approach as both inspiring and visionary.
